When Will the Next Fallout Game Be Released? Latest News from Bethesda

Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard has spoken about when the next single-player Fallout game might be released. In a recent interview with the YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Howard said that Fallout fans need to be patient for a new game.

Howard acknowledged that Fallout’s popularity has reached new heights thanks to the Amazon Prime Video series, but he emphasized that Bethesda is not rushing to release a new game. Howard stated, “We don't need to release something different from what we're doing with Fallout 76 for now.”

While he is aware of the demand for a new mainline single-player game, Howard highlighted that developing such games requires a lot of time and care. Bethesda prefers to take their time to do things right and ensure each new entry in the series feels like "a meaningful moment." He added, “We don't think we need to rush. Right now, the Fallout TV series fills a certain gap in terms of the series and storytelling. I completely understand the desire for a new mainline single-player game, but these things take time. I don't think it's bad for people to wait. We just want to do things right, whether it's for Elder Scrolls, Fallout, or now Starfield. We want everything we do in a series to be a meaningful moment for everyone who loves these series as much as we do.”

The last single-player game in the series was Fallout 4, released in 2015. Although nearly a decade has passed, Howard believes it is better not to rush future games: “I don't think it's bad for people to wait.”

Currently, Bethesda is busy updating Fallout 4 and Starfield. An expansion for Starfield called Shattered Space will be released later this year, while an update for Fallout 4 was released in April, bringing next-gen features and some Creation Club missions.

To promote the TV series, Bethesda temporarily reduced the prices of the Fallout games last month. The games saw strong sales and a significant increase in concurrent players on Steam. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the Prime Video series will return for a second season.
