Improvised Rhaenyra-Mysaria Scene Shocks Fans in 'House of the Dragon'

The sixth episode of "House of the Dragon" Season 2, titled "Smallfolk," recently aired on HBO. This "Game of Thrones" spin-off continues to make waves, particularly with a surprising scene between Rhaenyra and Mysaria at the episode's end.

"House of the Dragon" takes place roughly 200 years before the events of "Game of Thrones" and is based on George R.R. Martin's book "Fire & Blood." The second season, which will consist of 8 episodes in total, is slowly approaching its finale. Episode 6, "Smallfolk," showcases the Blacks searching for dragon riders while the Greens face a revolt from the local populace.

But it's the episode's ending that has garnered attention, with an unexpected development in the relationship between Rhaenyra and Mysaria. Fans had noticed the chemistry between the two characters for weeks, wondering why they weren't together yet. This new episode changed that and revealed the reason behind their on-screen spark.

According to Sonoya Mizuno, who portrays Mysaria, the kissing scene wasn't in the script. "In the script, it wasn't written as a kiss. There was just a sort of breathing between them, and then the scene cuts off... Because we were alone in the room and Mysaria was telling this story, [D'Arcy] had the instinct to embrace her, to comfort her. That's why the kiss came about very organically," she told The Wrap.

Emma D'Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra, commented on Daemon's possible reaction to this hidden kiss: "I don't think she intends to tell him. But I imagine she feels quite proud and brave. I think she likes the idea of him finding out. There's such a power struggle in their relationship that I think hooking up with his ex would be a beneficial point for her."

This improvised scene has caught viewers off guard and adds a new dimension to the complex relationship between Rhaenyra and Mysaria. It remains to be seen how this story will unfold in the final two episodes of the season.
