Richard Gadd, Creator of "Baby Reindeer", Announces New Series "Lions"
Richard Gadd's new series is called "Lions." After making a big impact in 2024 with "Baby Reindeer," Gadd is now working on this new project with HBO and the BBC.
Scottish comedian Richard Gadd wrote and directed "Baby Reindeer," inspired by his own life. The show premiered on Netflix on April 11 and quickly became one of the platform's most-watched series of the year, reaching 22 million views in its first three weeks. It tells the story of Donny Dunn, who, after failing in comedy, starts working in a bar where he gets involved with a woman who becomes obsessed with him.
The series gained attention, especially because people wondered how much of the story was true. Fiona Harvey, who allegedly inspired the character Martha Scott, denied the events shown in the series and announced she would sue Richard Gadd.
Now, the creator of this surprise hit from 2024 has a new project coming. "Lions" will be a six-episode series developed by HBO and the BBC. Richard Gadd will be the writer and executive producer. The show will be directed by Alexandra Brodski and Eshref Reybrouck.
Wendy Griffin will produce this HBO and BBC series. Tally Garner and Morven Reid (Mam Tor Productions), Richard Gadd, Gaynor Holmes (BBC), and Gavin Smith (BBC Scotland) will also be executive producers.
The first details about "Lions" have been shared. The series will span 40 years, from the 1980s to the present day, focusing on the relationship between two brothers, Niall and Ruben. No release date has been announced yet, and the cast remains unknown.
