New "Regular Show" Series Coming to Cartoon Network

Work has begun on a new "Regular Show" animated series. Familiar characters like Mordecai and Rigby might return. The new "Regular Show" animated series is currently in development. Created by J.G. Quintel for the Cartoon Network channel, the popular animated series is preparing to expand its universe with a new storyline.

First aired in 2010 on Cartoon Network, the Emmy-winning animated series captivated audiences of all ages over its 8 seasons and 244 episodes. Known as "Sürekli Dizi" in Turkey, the show follows the surreal misadventures of two close friends, Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, a raccoon, who work at a local park.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France was the stage for announcing numerous new animation projects.

Limited Details on the New "Regular Show" Animated Series

At the Annecy event, several productions, including "Regular Show," were announced. According to Variety, the creator of the series, J.G. Quintel, is returning for a new "Regular Show" series.

The event, which also announced the return of significant animation productions like new "Adventure Time" series and a spin-off of "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends," was well received by the audience at Annecy.

For the new "Sürekli Dizi" adventure developed for Cartoon Network, no plot details have been revealed. It has also not been confirmed whether Mordecai and Rigby will return as main characters. However, it was mentioned that some characters from the original series will appear and that J.G. Quintel will lead the production.

In a previous interview with Animation Magazine, J.G. Quintel shared his thoughts on the series finale:

"Bringing everything together was definitely a challenge. Giving people what they wanted to see and ensuring we created what we wanted to see... Trying to outdo the crazy things we had done over the years was very satisfying.

"When there's nothing left to do, you have to say, 'We've already done this! We've done that too!' But I think we figured it out and added a lot of new things we hadn't done before. That made it all work."

What ideas J.G. Quintel will bring to this project after a 7-year break remains to be seen.
