New Horror Series "Revival" Debuts to Rave Reviews

The new horror series "Revival," starring Melanie Scrofano, has premiered to widespread critical acclaim, earning a stellar rating on Rotten Tomatoes and captivating audiences with its unique premise.

Melanie Scrofano, known for her role in 'Wynonna Earp,' returns to SyFy in "Revival," a show that has critics buzzing with excitement. The series centers on the mysterious resurrection of the dead in a quiet Wisconsin town.

After its debut episode, "Revival" boasts a 90% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. New episodes are broadcast on Thursdays and are available for streaming on Peacock the following week.

The series is based on the Image Comics series of the same name, created by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, who released 47 issues from 2012 to 2017. The adaptation process was lengthy, with initial options for a TV adaptation dating back to 2012. Production finally commenced last year in New Brunswick, Canada.

The Premise of the Horror Series "Revival"

As "Revival" begins, Dana Cypress (Scrofano), a small-town police officer, plans to leave her hometown of Wasau, Wisconsin, with her son Cooper (Hudson Wurster). However, her plans are disrupted when the dead begin to rise from their graves.

These are not the typical mindless zombies; they are restored to life as they were before death. However, they possess the unique ability to heal from any injury, rendering them virtually immortal.

Amidst the ensuing chaos, Dana is drawn back into her role by her father and boss, Sheriff Wayne Cypress (David James Elliott). She strives to maintain order during a quarantine and amidst the living townspeople's suspicion of the "revivers." She is also investigating a mysterious murder where everyone, living or undead, is a suspect.

Scrofano gained recognition as the title demon hunter in 'Wynonna Earp.' She has also appeared in 'Letterkenny' and 'Bad Blood.' She will also reprise her role as Captain Marie Batel in the upcoming season of 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.'
