"Marlow Murder Club" Returns With New Cases and Premiere Date

The 'Marlow Murder Club' is set to return to PBS Masterpiece with a brand new season, promising more intriguing mysteries for fans to unravel. The second season of this cozy murder-mystery show will premiere later this year, bringing back the beloved characters and their penchant for solving crimes in the picturesque town of Marlow.

The show is scheduled to premiere on August 24th at 9 PM ET, alongside Season 6 of "Unforgotten." Viewers can look forward to another engaging evening of suspense and detective work.

The Returning Cast and New Mysteries The core cast, featuring Samantha Bond as the sharp-witted Judith Potts, Jo Martin as Suzie Harris, Cara Horgan as Becks Starling, and Natalie Dew as DS Tanika Malik, will reprise their roles. Based on the novels by Robert Thorogood, the series continues to draw inspiration from his captivating storytelling.

This season promises six episodes filled with intricate plots and unexpected twists. According to PBS, Judith Potts, a retired archaeologist, and her friends find themselves drawn back into the world of crime-solving after a series of murders begins near the River Thames. Bond offered a glimpse into the upcoming season, teasing three distinct mysteries. "Season 1 is one story, and Season 2 is three stories," she explained. "You've got a posh murder that happens at Sir Peter Bailey's house... And then there’s a mystery set in a more modest bit of Marlow... And the third one is at the sailing club." She also the show's authentic setting, noting that filming takes place on location in Marlow itself, adding to the series' charm.

Other PBS Masterpiece Highlights Beyond "The Marlow Murder Club," PBS Masterpiece is offering a range of compelling content this year. One particularly anticipated series is "Miss Austen," which premiered on May 4th. The series explores the life of Cassandra Austen, sister to the renowned Jane Austen, and her controversial decision to burn or redact many of Jane's letters. Starring Keeley Hawes, the four-episode series delves into Cassandra's motivations for protecting her sister's legacy. The cast also includes Synnøve Karlsen as a young Cassandra, Patsy Ferran as Jane Austen, and features talents like Alfred Enoch and Rose Leslie. "The Marlow Murder Club" will be available for streaming on the PBS app, PBS.org, and PBS MASTERPIECE on Prime Video. The series release date is October 27, 2024.
