Mandalorian's New Mission: Empire's Shadow Looms Over Coruscant

Din Djarin and Grogu are heading to Coruscant, and the Empire is waiting for them. A new mission, set to debut alongside the upcoming theatrical release of "The Mandalorian & Grogu," will see the duo facing off against Imperial remnants in the heart of the galaxy. This adventure promises action, intrigue, and a deeper connection to the broader Star Wars narrative.

This mission, which will be integrated into the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, is timed to coincide with the "The Mandalorian & Grogu" movie release date of May 22, 2026. Guests will join Din and Grogu as they hunt down Imperial forces, gather valuable cargo for credits, and navigate the bustling cityscape of Coruscant.

The Empire Is Back On The Galactic Capital The Imagineers are aiming for an "Attack of the Clones"-inspired atmosphere, complete with Din Djarin piloting through heavy traffic while battling Imperials lurking in the lower levels of Coruscant. This immersive experience will blend seamlessly with the established Star Wars lore.

The seeds of Imperial resurgence on Coruscant were subtly planted in "The Mandalorian" season 3 with the introduction of Elia Kane, an Imperial spy embedded within the New Republic Amnesty Program. Kane's presence on Coruscant hints at a wider network of spies potentially operating throughout the planet, highlighting the challenges faced by the fledgling New Republic.

Imperial Forces Are Targeting Coruscant This storyline, rolling out at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, will put Din and Grogu in direct conflict with these hidden Imperial forces. Guided by the unreliable Hondo Ohnaka, who mistakenly believes he's recruited a "random Mandalorian guy," they will discover the true extent of Imperial influence on Coruscant. He directs them to use the conveniently parked Falcon to deal with Imperial sympathizers.

Our Take On The Empire's Return While serving as a tie-in to "The Mandalorian & Grogu," this new mission could also shed light on the New Republic's decision to initially bypass Coruscant as its capital, opting instead for Chandrila. The rotation of the Republic's capital city might be rooted in the planet's deep ties to the Old Republic and the Empire. This new adventure could potentially reveal the reason behind this choice. The secrets of the Star Wars universe may very well be hidden within Smuggler's Run, waiting to be discovered.
