The showcase also special mechanics within the set. “Summons,” a key element from the Final Fantasy series, are being integrated as Saga creatures that players can call upon to aid them in battle. The card Summon: Shiva, shown in the gallery, exemplifies this mechanic. Additionally, double-faced cards are making a return, with Cecil's transformation between Dark Knight and Redeemed Paladin serving as a prime example.

Many of these cards feature artwork created by beloved artists from throughout the Final Fantasy franchise, creating a truly special experience for fans. This upcoming Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy set is designed to be fully draftable and Standard-legal. Its release will coincide with the launch of four preconstructed Commander decks, each thematically based on a different Final Fantasy installment: 6, 7, 10, and 14. Each of these decks will contain 100 cards, blending new Final Fantasy-themed cards with existing cards featuring reimagined art inspired by the iconic series. The set is scheduled to launch on June 13th.
