Kevin Feige Confirms: "White Vision" Series Coming to Disney+
Work on the "White Vision" series is progressing steadily. Terry Matalas, who served as the showrunner for the third season of Star Trek: Picard, will be leading this new Marvel project.
The series, focusing on the character White Vision, was first announced in October 2022 but remained quiet until last May. Although names like Vision and Vision Quest have been suggested, the final title of the series has not yet been confirmed. One thing is certain: the character of White Vision, introduced at the end of WandaVision, is set to embark on a new phase of his journey.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige discussed Terry Matalas's involvement in the project during an interview with Inverse. Feige explained that he was impressed by Matalas's work on the third season of Star Trek: Picard and made efforts to recruit him.
"That's how I got to know him. Through his incredible work on season 3 of Picard. I said, ‘This is amazing. I don't know how this exists. I need to find the person who did this.’”
Paul Bettany will reprise his role as Vision, a character first seen in Avengers: Age of Ultron. After being killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, Vision was brought back to life twice in the WandaVision series. The first resurrection occurred when Wanda, in her grief, created a new reality in Westview. The second resurrection was orchestrated by S.W.O.R.D., who used Vision's recovered body and remnants of Wanda's magic to create a new version of Vision.
Terry Matalas was praised for his success in crafting an emotional farewell to the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast in the third season of Picard. The series received acclaim from both critics and Star Trek fans.
Feige's passion for Star Trek is well-known. He has previously cited the finale of The Next Generation as one of his favorite series finales and explained how the Star Trek films influenced the structure of various MCU sequels. In 2024, Feige also expressed his love for the 1984 film Star Trek III: The Search for Spock while appearing as a guest on the popular podcast Inglorious Treksperts.
It is not yet known if the Vision series will resemble the third season of Picard. Given that Matalas’s work on 12 Monkeys was very different from Picard, it is expected that the new series will have its own distinctive style.
