First Trailer Released for Zack Snyder's Animated Series "Twilight of the Gods"
The trailer for Twilight of the Gods has been released. Zack Snyder's new animated series, themed around Norse mythology, now has a confirmed release date. The series will meet viewers on Netflix starting September 19, 2024. The first glimpses offer a brief look into the legendary world of Norse mythology, inviting audiences on an action-packed journey.
Twilight of the Gods was initially announced in 2021. The main characters Leif and Sigrid are voiced by Stuart Martin and Sylvia Hoeks, respectively. Snyder described Hoeks' character as "beautiful, with a Nordic chill yet passionate." The first trailer showcases Sigrid's relentless violence and determination against her enemies.
The voice cast of the series is also noteworthy. In Twilight of the Gods, Paterson Joseph voices Loki, Jamie Clayton as Seid-Kona, Birgitte Hjort Sørensen as Hervor, Kristofer Hivju as Andvari, Thea Sofie Loch Næss as Thyra, John Noble as Odin, and Peter Stormare as Ulfr. Additionally, Jamie Chung and Lauren Cohan voice Hel and Inge, respectively.
Created under "The Stone Quarry Animation" banner and produced by Xilam Animation, this epic production takes viewers from the gates of Hel to snow-covered battlefields, illuminated by lightning-filled skies. The series explores themes of love, loss, and revenge, brought to life with innovative animation techniques.
The story follows the adventures of Leif, a mortal king, and Sigrid, a warrior with an iron will and child of the giants. Sigrid saves Leif on the battlefield, sparking a blossoming love between them. However, their wedding night is shattered by Thor's wrath. This tragedy propels the couple on a quest for revenge against gods and demons alike. They embark on a perilous journey to the depths of Hel, assembling a team of warriors to overcome every obstacle.
At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Zack Snyder discussed the development process of this animated series and the creative freedom offered by animation. Comparing it to live-action films, Snyder remarked:
"You draw something and the actors can't come and mess it up. I joke, I love actors, but in animation, the path between the brain and the screen is much more pure and direct."
The question "When will Twilight of the Gods be released?" has been answered with the release of the first trailer. The series will be available in its entirety on Netflix starting September 19, 2024.
