Final Fantasy Characters Coming to Magic: The Gathering!

Magic: The Gathering is gearing up for a special panel at PAX East, dedicated to its highly anticipated Final Fantasy crossover set. Fans can expect a first look at some brand-new cards. The identity of a special guest hints at one character likely to be included in the set.

The Final Fantasy set has been generating buzz since the first card previews were released. With such a vast universe to draw from, it's difficult to predict which characters and creatures will make the cut. However, one Final Fantasy protagonist seems almost guaranteed to appear.

FF16's Clive Is Likely Coming To Magic: The Gathering The PAX panel will be hosted by Ben Starr, the actor who portrays Clive Rosfield in Final Fantasy 16. His appearance at the event strongly suggests that a Clive card will be previewed at the panel. This is particularly exciting because no new cards from Final Fantasy 16 have been revealed yet, with the exception of Torgal.

While a Torgal card exists, it's essentially a reskin of an existing Magic: The Gathering card, Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful. This leaves fans eager to see how Clive's unique abilities will translate into Magic: The Gathering mechanics.

What Else To Expect From Magic's PAX Event It would be interesting to see Clive gain abilities from other cards, mirroring his Eikon power absorption in the game. Another possibility is a dual-faced card, showcasing his human side and his Ifrit transformation. The thematic abilities of Celes' Magic: The Gathering card offer another possible approach.

The PAX East event will also feature unexpected guests, including professional wrestlers Adam Cole and Kenny Omega. While both have a known interest in Final Fantasy, their presence at an MTG panel is still a surprise. Even with a number of cards already previewed, PAX East is expected to showcase a fresh batch of Final Fantasy cards. As the event approaches, fans are playing through the Final Fantasy games in preparation, ready to analyze the new cards with informed eyes. This release will be the first full Standard legal Universes Beyond Magic: The Gathering set, so it will be exciting to see how it balances with the existing card pool.
