Evil Dead: The Game Removed From Sale, Servers Staying Online

Evil Dead: The Game, the asymmetric multiplayer experience based on the popular horror franchise, has been pulled from digital stores by its publisher. The game, which launched in 2022 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, received a positive reception initially.

Despite its promising start and the release of a Game of the Year Edition a year later, the game seemingly failed to maintain a strong player base. The Nintendo Switch version was canceled in September 2023, and further content development was also halted. Now, three years after its release, the game is no longer available for purchase. However, existing players can still enjoy the game. Saber Interactive, the developer and publisher, confirmed that the servers will remain online.

Server Status and Community Reaction In a statement on the game’s Steam page, Saber Interactive addressed the change: "We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone. We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support."

The decision to remove the game from sale has sparked mixed reactions. Many players have expressed their disappointment on the game's Steam page. While some acknowledge the end of an era, they appreciate the opportunity to continue playing. One player with over 380 hours in-game wrote, "It was fun while it lasted, lads. I mean that.”
