Disney's Frozen Universe Expands: Frozen 3 and 4 in Development
Hey Frozen fans! Get ready for some cool news that'll make you want to build a snowman! Disney is cooking up not one, but two new Frozen movies at the same time. That's right - Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 are on their way!
The Frozen Story So Far
Remember when we first met Elsa and Anna back in 2013? That's when Disney's Frozen burst onto our screens like a magical snowstorm. The movie was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen," a story written way back in 1844. Talk about a makeover!
Frozen was a massive hit, making a whopping $1.2 billion at the box office. That's a lot of ice cream money! The sequel, Frozen 2, came out in 2019 and did even better, raking in $1.45 billion. With numbers like that, it's no wonder Disney wants to keep the icy magic going.
What's New in Arendelle?
Disney has been pretty hush-hush about new Frozen adventures, but earlier this year, they spilled the beans at the D23 Expo. They announced that Frozen 3 was in the works. But hold onto your reindeer, folks, because now we know they're working on Frozen 4 too!
Jennifer Lee, the director of the Frozen movies, recently chatted with Fandango and dropped this bombshell. She said, "We're working on Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 at the same time. We're all in one room, with half of us working on 3 and half on 4."
What to Expect from the New Frozen Movies
Now, don't get too excited just yet. Lee mentioned that they're still in the early stages of writing. But she did give us some juicy hints about what questions the new movies might answer:
Who gave Elsa her powers?
What happened to Hans after the first movie?
Lee teased that there are many more questions to be answered in these upcoming films. It sounds like we're in for some serious Frozen lore!
When Can We Build a Snowman Again?
Mark your calendars, Frozen fans! Frozen 3 is set to hit theaters on November 24, 2027. That might seem like a long time to wait, but remember, good things come to those who wait! As for Frozen 4, we don't have a release date yet, but fingers crossed it won't be too long after the third movie.
Why We Can't Let It Go
The Frozen franchise has become more than just movies. It's a full-on cultural phenomenon! We've seen Elsa, Anna, Olaf, and the gang in TV shows, musicals, video games, and pretty much everywhere else you can imagine. These new movies are sure to bring even more Frozen fun into our lives.
