David Dastmalchian has been cast as M. Bison in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie, marking a significant addition to the film's ensemble cast.

Dastmalchian, recognized for his portrayals of villainous characters such as Thomas Schiff in The Dark Knight, Kurt and Veb in the Ant-Man series, Abra Kadabra in The Flash, and Polka-Dot Man in The Suicide Squad, is set to take on what may be his biggest role yet as the iconic dictator from the Street Fighter franchise.

Raúl Juliá famously played M. Bison in the 1994 Street Fighter film alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme as Colonel Guile and Kylie Minogue as Cammy. No comment was available from Legendary at this time.

In Capcom's Street Fighter video games, M. Bison leads Shadaloo, the criminal organization responsible for many of the conflicts within the game's storyline.

The Role of M. Bison in the Street Fighter Movie

M. Bison is typically depicted as an immensely powerful final boss character who utilizes Psycho Power to eliminate any opposition. His character has evolved over time, becoming a bit more subdued in recent years compared to his formidable presence in Street Fighter 2.

The Street Fighter movie cast is rapidly shaping up, with several key roles now officially announced. This adaptation aims to capture the essence of the games for a new generation.

Rapper Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent, will portray the boxer Balrog, while Jason Momoa of Aquaman fame is set to play Blanka. Noah Centineo will take on the role of Ken, WWE superstar Roman Reigns will become Akuma, and Andrew Koji will embody Ryu. Callina Liang has been cast as Chun-Li.

The role of Guile remains uncast, possibly due to the challenge of finding the perfect actor to match the character's iconic hairstyle. Will they find the perfect fit?

The Street Fighter movie is scheduled to premiere on March 20, 2026. Fans are eagerly awaiting this new adaptation.

Video Game Adaptations and the Street Fighter Legacy

Hollywood's venture into video game adaptations has yielded significant success, with movies like A Minecraft Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie earning substantial box office revenue. This makes Legendary's decision to adapt Street Fighter a logical step.

The hope is that this new Street Fighter movie will surpass the 1994 film, which is widely considered to be one of the worst video game adaptations ever made. Can it break the curse?
