A Hill Troll Inspired by "Breaking Bad" in Season 2 of "The Rings of Power"

Season 2 of "The Rings of Power" promises to captivate viewers with a new lineup of "villains". The Lord of the Rings series, streaming on Prime Video, will introduce a hill troll named Damrod, adding a darker twist to the story. According to a recent article in Empire magazine, this character will join Adar's army in the upcoming season. This troll is inspired by Mike Ehrmantraut from the series "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul", due to his strength and imposing physical presence.

Created by Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, "The Rings of Power" is set in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth and explores the events of the Second Age. The new season continues to unravel the rise of evil, introducing many new characters and creatures. Season 2 will begin airing on August 29, 2024.

Recently, it was announced that the Barrow-wights would join Sauron's forces in the war. With the addition of this hill troll, the series aims to increase the intensity of the battles. McKay states:

"If you look at his movements and natural strength, he was partially inspired by Mike Ehrmantraut from 'Breaking Bad' and 'Better Call Saul'."

The first season of the series opened with Galadriel killing a snow troll. In Peter Jackson's adaptations of The Lord of the Rings, viewers were introduced to cave trolls.

The upcoming season will feature many terrifying creatures from Middle-earth, including Balrog, the Barrow-wights, and Damrod, the hill troll.
