New Trailer for “Hellboy: The Crooked Man” Revealed: A Faithful Adaptation of the Comic

The new trailer for "Hellboy: The Crooked Man" has been unveiled at the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, creating a buzz among fans. This highly anticipated adaptation of the Hellboy universe stands out as the series' first venture into the horror genre.

While the first trailer was released earlier this month, this new sneak peek gives us a deeper look at the film’s main characters. Jack Kesy stars as Hellboy, joined by Jefferson White and Adeline Rudolph. The film is directed by Brian Taylor, with a screenplay penned by Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy, and Chris Golden, featuring some personal touches from Taylor himself.

The trailer highlights the film’s horror elements with scenes designed to intrigue and frighten. One particularly chilling scene features a terrifying raccoon that sneaks into a bedroom and crawls into a sleeping person’s mouth. The trailer also reveals the first glimpse of the main villain, The Crooked Man, adding to the film’s eerie atmosphere.

A Villain True to the Comics

"Hellboy: The Crooked Man" is praised as the most faithful comic book adaptation in the Hellboy series. The Crooked Man is depicted as a tall figure with a hat, scruffy beard, and a haunting appearance, staying true to his comic book incarnation. Described as the scariest villain in the Hellboy universe, he is portrayed as Jeremiah Witkins, one of Appalachia's first settlers with demonic powers.

The film is set in the 1950s in the rural Appalachian region. Hellboy and Bobbie Jo Song, a rookie agent with the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (BPRD), find themselves stranded in a village plagued by mysterious events. Together, they must confront the horrors led by the malevolent entity known as The Crooked Man and save the villagers from the terrible events that threaten them.

A Vision of Horror

Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy, has expressed his confidence in Brian Taylor’s vision for this film. In a previous interview, Mignola said, “His goal is to make a horror film, and that’s very exciting. It’s going to be interesting.” He also noted that this was the first true Hellboy horror film script he had ever read, highlighting the unique nature of this adaptation.

"Hellboy: The Crooked Man" promises to be a gripping cinematic adventure that blends horror and intrigue while staying true to the spirit of the original comic. The film is set to be released in multiple countries on September 27, 2024. Fans of the Hellboy universe eagerly anticipate how this new installment will bring their favorite dark fantasy world to life on the big screen.
