GTA 6 Release Date Finally Announced: All the Details

The Long-Awaited Good News: The Release Date of "GTA 6" is Announced

The highly anticipated release date for GTA 6 has finally been revealed. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar's parent company, has given the date for the new Grand Theft Auto adventure.

According to official sources, GTA 6 will release in the fall of 2025 to meet with players.

Rockstar Games, which continues its work under the banner of Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., has reached another major milestone regarding its long-awaited game GTA 6.

The game, whose first trailer was shared in December 2023 for Rockstar Games' 25th anniversary, remains on track for 2025.

Yesterday, Take-Two Interactive released its earnings for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2024, revealing that the company suffered a loss of $2.9 billion during the period from January 1 to March 31. Take-Two's latest expectation for this quarter was a loss between $170 and $153 million. The company explained that the $2.9 billion fourth quarter loss included acquisition and restructuring costs.

The most striking detail in the financial reports concerned GTA 6. Take-Two indicated fall 2025 as the release date for GTA 6.

Despite rumors of a potential delay to 2026, Take-Two clearly stated in its earnings report that they have made their plans based on the new Grand Theft Auto release. Accordingly, the game is expected to be launched to players in October or November 2025.

CEO Strauss Zelnick had also stated in an interview: "We are extremely confident that we will release GTA 6 in the fall of 2025."

For now, it is known that Grand Theft Auto 6 will first be released on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. The PC version will not be available at initial launch. However, the PC version of GTA 6 will join players at a later date.

The Take-Two president also addressed the recent layoffs at the company and in the gaming industry in general, stating that he does not expect further reductions.

Zelnick stated:

"We feel we are in a very good place right now. We've had three recent cost-cutting programs. A $100 million program that we exceeded as part of the Zynga integration in 2022, another $50 million program that we also exceeded, and now finally a $165 million cost containment and actual cost reduction program. Our three-pronged strategy is to become the most creative, most efficient, and most innovative company in the entertainment sector. We don't always get it right, but I can certainly say that we try. I think that puts us on very solid footing in terms of efficiency."

Zelnick expects Take-Two to finalize "relatively soon" the acquisition of Gearbox, the developer of the Borderlands and Tiny Tina's Wonderlands games. The CEO also expects sequential growth for Take-Two in fiscal years 2025, 2026, and 2027.
